Dummy on the road

Dummy on the road, originally uploaded by jsarcadia.

Some poor kid's not going to be happy. I could have got closer but I didn't want to get the camera wet! It's raining out there.

A dummy, dummy. I wonder what you call it over there. Stick it in the baby's mouth to suck on and keep quiet.
When the baby cries or whatever the dummy falls out - hence the term "spit the dummy" when someone throws a tantrum.

That's a pacifier here. Each family usually finds an affectionate name for them. Our family always called them "binkies".

Pacifier makes sense. Think I've heard it called that before. Binky? Haven't heard that one though. :)
Spit the binky - doesn't quite work somehow. ;)

Actually, the big thing was twirl the binky. One of my nieces would twirl the thing in her mouth . . . without using her hands. It was a hoot!
