The last lot of Clare's photos on flickr

The UK part of the trip - Liverpool and London. This one is a beach near Liverpool, on The Mersey River. That's a statue, not a person. It's sinking into the sand.

I don't think so. There are a series of them along the beach apparently. Some now get swamped when the tide comes in and others are just slowly sinking into the sand.

Before i read your comment, I thought maybe she staged it, you know, buried her friend's legs in the sand. Now you KNOW I'm going to have to do that!

is the sculptor, yes. He's got another series of figures dotted through an old Roman settlement - saw it on the 'net. I think it'd be quite spooky to keep running into these non-people.
